In a major push to strengthen India’s air defense grid along its northern and northeastern borders, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) signed a ₹1,950 crore capital acquisition contract with state-run Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) on Tuesday, March 31, 2026.
The contract, executed under the Buy (Indian–Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured) category, involves the procurement of two advanced mountain radar systems and associated infrastructure specifically engineered for the Indian Air Force (IAF).
